Exeter is about 50 minutes, Plymouth about two hours. Important notice: the A371 main road bridge at Castle Cary station will be closed for rebuilding from 9 July until mid-November: if driving look out for diversion notices. Notes: *Do you need to be in London even earlier? There is an 0605 train from Frome, arr Paddington 0809; ** Just missed this one? You could take the 0955 local train to Westbury (0948 on a Saturday) and change there, arr Paddington 1223 - it does involve a 40 minute wait at Westbury, but otherwise the next main line train from Castle Cary  doesn’t get to Paddington until 1444;  Sundays: a Until 16 June & from 4  August; b  23 June to 28 July only; London arrival times for the other Sunday trains vary by a few minutes for 23 June to 28 July, so check here if it matters particularly; w change for Paddington at Westbury as this is a Bristol train.
